925316 Flight Sergeant Richard Haine

F/S Haine was initially buried in the US cemetery in St Laurent sur Mer, in Plot E, Row 1, Grave 12*. Beside him in Grave 13 was another of the crew, unidentified "X-3". When F/S Haine was transferred to Bayeux in October 1944, he was listed as being buried in grave X-B-3 (Plot X, Row B, Grave 3). Exhumation of the remains of the unknown airman buried next to him proved to be those of F/S Haine. Haine's remains were then transferred to the "his" grave so as to match the cemetery records, the other airman having his remains placed in X-B-2.
